Personal Response 3: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

Hi children. We’ll be doing our 3rd piece of personal response this week. Let’s visit the website of Health Promotion Board.
First, go to this link: http://www.hpb.gov.sg/hpb/default.asp?pg_id=865&aid=272
Read the article on Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease.
You may also click on the additional links shown on the right-hand side of the page.
Read these articles and give your opinion and comments about them. To guide you in you in writing your personal response, here are some questions:
Why is it important for children to be kept away from crowded public places if they should signs of infection?
Why is it essential to follow good hygiene practices?
What does 'good hygiene practices' mean to you?
I hope to read your responses soon , Mrs. Tan.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease might happen to children and adults when they have symthoms like:
  • fever
  • sore throat
  • ulcers in the throat, mouth and tongue
  • headache
  • a rash with vesicles on hands, feet and diaper area.
  • loss of appetite

If they get hand, foot and mouth disease they should rinse their mouth with salt water.Put 1/2 a teaspoon and add it in a glass of warm water.Do NOT swallow or your tonsils will be painful and might get hurt on that part.It is important to keep away from outdoor places. It helps to prevent more blisters and ulcers from coming out.It is essential to follow good hygiene practices so that we can avoid other symthoms to prevent sickness or that is near hand , food and mouth disease.I think 'good hygiene practises' means to practice more good hygiene practice and not share any food like washing our hands before eating and washing our hand after coming out of the toilet.I think we need to practise more good hygiene to avoid hand, foot and mouth disease and other sickness.
